Preparation System
A fully integrated, PLC-controlled unit for continuous dissolution, maturation, and precise metering of dry polymer and flocculant solutions — engineered for municipal wastewater treatment, sludge dewatering, and industrial process water applications.
Precision Chemical Dosing,
Fully Automated
The Automatic Polymer Preparation System is a turnkey solution for the continuous preparation and dosing of polyelectrolyte and flocculant solutions in water and wastewater treatment processes. Dry polymer powder is precision-fed from a hopper via a high-accuracy screw conveyor, wetted, and progressively dissolved across three dedicated mixing and maturation chambers before being metered to the downstream process.
Controlled by an integrated PLC panel, the unit operates in fully automatic or manual mode, automatically adjusting dosing rates in response to process flow signals. This eliminates operator dependency while ensuring consistent solution concentration and activation — critical factors for achieving optimal flocculation, clarification, and sludge dewatering performance.
All product-contact surfaces are fabricated from SS304 stainless steel as standard, with SS316 available for corrosive chemical environments. The compact, skid-mounted design minimises civil work and allows for straightforward installation and relocation.
- Municipal wastewater treatment plants

- Primary and secondary clarification
- Industrial effluent treatment (food, textile, chemical, pharmaceutical)
- Paper and pulp production
- Mining and mineral processing
- Drinking water flocculation and coagulation
- Oil recovery and emulsion breaking
System at a Glance
Each unit is pre-assembled and factory-tested before shipment. Standard configuration comprises three hydraulically coupled stainless-steel tanks, a variable-speed screw feeder, a level-monitored hopper, three motor-driven mixers, and a full water supply assembly with flow metering and solenoid control.
Why Choose This System
Precision Powder Feeding
A high-precision variable-speed screw conveyor delivers consistent dry polymer throughput from the hopper to the wetting zone. Dosing rate is continuously adjustable to match process demand, minimising chemical waste and over-dosing.
Three-Stage Maturation
Polymer passes sequentially through a pre-soaking zone, a dissolving tank, and a maturation storage tank — each equipped with a dedicated mixer. This staged approach ensures full hydration and activation of polymer chains, maximising flocculation efficiency.
Integrated PLC Automation
The onboard PLC panel manages the complete preparation cycle — powder feed, water supply sequencing, mixer operation, and dosing pump output — in response to real-time flow signals. Operates unattended 24/7 with alarm output for fault conditions.
Level Detection & Sight Glass
A dry-powder level sensor in the hopper provides continuous material monitoring, triggering low-level alarms before polymer stock is exhausted. Sight glasses on the tank walls allow operators to visually verify solution level and clarity at a glance.
Anti-Caking Discharge Heater
An electric heating element installed in the screw discharge pipe prevents hygroscopic polymer powder from caking or bridging during periods of high humidity or system idle time — ensuring reliable restart and consistent feed rate after downtime.
Skid-Mounted Stainless Steel
The entire assembly — hopper, tanks, pipework, valves, and control panel — is factory-built onto a common structural skid in SS304 stainless steel. This minimises on-site installation time, simplifies commissioning, and ensures long-term corrosion resistance.
Controlled Water Metering
The water supply sub-system incorporates a manual ball valve, strainer, pressure gauge, solenoid valve, and rotameter flow meter. These components ensure a stable, accurately metered dilution water supply to maintain target solution concentration across varying inlet pressures.
Powder & Liquid Compatible
Standard configuration handles dry powder flocculants. The system can be configured for liquid polymer or emulsion concentrate preparation by substituting the screw feeder with a dosing pump — or combined dual-mode systems are available for maximum operational flexibility.
Reduced Chemical Consumption
Proper three-stage maturation allows polymer molecular chains to fully uncoil and reach peak activity before dosing. This ensures effective floc formation at lower polymer concentrations, typically delivering a 15–25% reduction in chemical consumption compared to single-tank preparation units.
How It Works
Powder Dispensing
Dry polymer is stored in the hopper and conveyed at a set rate by the variable-speed screw feeder into the wetting zone.
Pre-Soaking
Polymer powder enters a pre-soaking chamber where it is wetted by a controlled water stream, preventing dry clumps (“fish-eyes”) from forming.
Dissolving
The wetted mixture is conveyed to the dissolving tank, where a motorised agitator ensures thorough dispersion and initial dissolution of the polymer.
Maturation
The solution flows into the maturation storage tank for full chain uncoiling and activation — the critical step for maximum flocculation performance.
Metered Dosing
The fully activated polymer solution is metered by dosing pumps to the process — sludge lines, clarifiers, or dewatering equipment — under PLC control.
